Seeing as there has not been much usage of these forums in the recent past, should we consider revamping this site some or figure out some other usage for the boards?
What say the others of ye?

I suppose it depends upon what you mean by revamping the site.
I know I've been lax on doing the software upgrade, but seeing as how the boards have been getting less and less usage over the past few years hasn't exactly made it a high priority. It wouldn't be doing too much for usability anyway. _________________ May today there be peace within. I feel kinda' tacky saying this but maybe we should consider making a Facebook page or something where all "Followers of the Great and Powerful DM Shoe" would be able to keep up with news & what-not. Seems like most of us are there already anyway...I mean, I'm just sayin'. _________________ "You have a right to your dreams

I worded my OP carefully, but I guess I'll come out and say what I was thinking. Since we have seen the decline of this board and it's usage, maybe we should consider closing it down and using something else.
Maybe Facebook, maybe just using GMail to plan things since they already thread everything in one email.
Less work overall if we close down something that is really getting little to no use.
My thoughts only.

More than willing to spin up a mailing list. We've got the software already installed on the server for it. _________________ May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. ~ Excerpt from the start of Saint Theresa's Prayer |

it is true that there's not much activity going on here -- we've begun to use evite more and more (and facebook events might serve the same purpose) for party-like events.
My weekend game has also been on extended hiatus...
I like the concept of message boards for keeping campaign-related information, but I've also liked using gmail's threaded messages for things like roll calls and the like. I've also been looking into Obsidian Portal and the D&D website for ways to start compiling campaign/game related info.
Before closing down the boards entirely, I'd want to capture data regarding past campaigns. I'm not sure when I'm going to be ready to do that, though. |

Well as we can see, even making a decision like this seems to take a bit longer on these forums now a days.
I vote to retire these boards after the relevant gaming materials have been collected. When that happens will be later I assume, but I don't mind going on record now with my choice.
It's up to the rest of you to get your say in as well. And ultimately, it'll be up to Dez and tykeal.

I'm sure I'd use it more were I in a gaming group (see the formerly rampant PLTS page postings), but since returning to Washington and a new career, I haven't gamed outside of Jesse's bachelor party. Not sure that will change until returning closer to Tacoma...
Candidly, as a relative outsider (for the moment), I'd at least like to request that any format change be done in such a way that folks like myself can still keep an ear/eye open towards what's going on in the functioning gaming groups. Proxy is my best bet for a gaming high right now.

I have to agree with Neurode on the fact that I would use the forums more if I were involved in an active gaming group. However, I am not opposed to switching to something based off of FB, as I am on there far more frequently. _________________ I miss gaming. Really. Does anybody do it anymore? Anyone need a player? As a lurker, I could go with or without the forums but I do enjoy following what goes on here. My question is how will System announcements be handled when the forums are shut down? _________________ Shadowlord
